Transgender people are often either being silenced or spoken about. When do we get to speak for ourselves? I want Transient Callers to be an archive of the variety of trans lifestyles that exist in 2025. I don’t want the truth to be drowned out amongst the piles of trash media, sensationalized legislation or straight up lies. So much will be forgotten if we let it. To keep speaking up against closed ears is an act of resistance. We deserve a record to return to. We deserve to remember what it was like to be us, right now. The good, the bad, the ugly.

Thank you to the New York Trans Oral History Project, The Voicemail Project, and Queering the Map for your inspiration.

Who can submit?
Anyone who identifies as trans. You know.

How long should a submission be?
The voicemail box will cut you off at a three minute recording.

What do I talk about?Your life! Do you like your neighborhood? Been to any good clubs recently? Are you working on a project that’s going well? Trans life looks like so many things and we want to remember it all.

Where does my information go?All voicemails will go to a Google voicemail box where they’re downloaded and transcribed. After they’ve been uploaded, you’ll receive a text letting you know we’ve recieved your submission. Voicemails are stored locally after uploading. Phone numbers will be stored temporarily in case we need to reach out for clarification in the transcript and deleted after 3 months.

Where will this be accessible?
This website, firstly. We’re aiming to have a listening party sometime in April and will post when/if that happens!
